MARINE PROJECT 2

LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA 2024

For the second of three projects, we redistributed the upstairs living space. As a family with three children entering the teen years, personal space for each became increasingly important. We began by converting a large playroom into two individual bedrooms with for the boys and converted the originally shared bedroom into a cozy den. For their daughter, we created a dreamy, feminine bedroom inspired by Parisian wardrobes and timeless tradition.

The den was created to be a cozy gathering retreat and an ultimate sleepover haven. We cladded every wall with wood and painted it a deep, moody green. A hidden, fold-down bunkbed was inspired by 1920's train cabins.

Sharing the ridge beam and a common wall, we created an interior window to divide the space and share the light. Using every spare inch, we created two bedrooms, each with their own private bath.
