BEVERLY FARMS, MASSACHUSETTS
Tucked within an intimate enclave of five private beachfront homes, Haven House is steeped with history and New England charm. Originally constructed in the 1930s by the Parker Brothers family, the home began as a classic Colonial before a poorly conceived 1990s addition disrupted its original character. Our role was to thoughtfully reorganize the use of space and restore a cohesive, timeless architectural language back to the home.

The kitchen was simply in the wrong location of the home. It was a thoroughfare between wings, awkward and dark. It became clear the entire house would flow better if we created an entirely new kitchen in the right location - connected to adjacent living spaces and the outdoors. We then repurposed the old kitchen a bar. As it was already a dark space - we embraced the shadows and gave it a moody tone. Reaching back to the years the homeowners lived on a boat, a sea-faring vibe felt perfect to them. It has become a perfect place to entertain, beginning an evening with a welcoming cocktail or a nightcap on the way to the adjacent game room.

The new kitchen is bright and richly layered.
With an expansive pantry tucked behind the range wall and a second butler's scullery and baking station, the kitchen houses every possible convenience. Directly connected to common living spaces as well as views of the gardens and grounds, it is the hub of the home.

Earthy Tabarka tile clads the range wall, and European terracotta pavers warm the floors of the butlers pantry. Cutting flowers and seasonal vegtables planted at arm's reach bring farm-to-table inspiration while morning light floods the space.

A luxurious primary bathroom sat at the top of the homeowners’ wishlist. We detailed the window and doorway trim in slab stone for a clean, elevated finish. Underfoot, a marble basketweave floor feels timeless and classic. A soft curve at the shower entry is echoed above the vanity, creating a graceful sense of continuity—elegant, refined, and enduring.

The favorite room in the house is the game room. A place to step back in time and reconnect with family and friends through the simple tradition of board games. Created as an homage to the original family who built the house, it’s a space rooted in nostalgia, warmth, and togetherness.
